County commissioners from around Pennsylvania unanimously re-elected Dauphin County Commissioner George P. Hartwick III this week to serve on the National Association of Counties (NACo) Board of Directors.

Commissioners on Tuesday approved Hartwick to serve what will be his seventh one-year term with the board.

NACo represents and provides information and guidance to county governments while advocating for counties to receive essential services and resources.

“My mission has always been to ensure counties have a seat at the table for important discussions and actions at the state and federal levels that impact even the smallest communities,” Commissioner Hartwick said.

“I am honored to represent the 67 counties and thank my fellow commissioners for voting me as a voice for the interests of local government,” Commissioner Hartwick said.

NACo’s annual meeting on March 22 and 23 included elections of board members.

Commissioner Hartwick and fellow Dauphin County Commissioners Chair Jeff Haste and Mike Pries have worked with NACo on a number of initiatives, including: ongoing work in securing $65 billion in direct relief and flexible use for counties through the American Rescue Plan; national discussions on a $10 billion transportation and infrastructure package; ongoing efforts to reduce the prison populations of individuals with mental illness.
