New Dauphin County Elections Office Offers Convenience, Free Parking for Voters and Volunteers

A new Dauphin County elections office designed and located to be more convenient for voters and volunteers has opened at 1251 South 28th Street.

Elections and Voter Registration Office staff recently relocated from their previous space at the Dauphin County Administration Building in downtown Harrisburg.

“The new facility offers improvement on all levels: for voters, volunteers and our elections staff,” County Commissioner Mike Pries said.

Director of Elections and Voter Registration Jerry Feaser and his staff now have four times the workspace in their new location, a two-story building one-third of a mile from Harrisburg city, at the former Meals on Wheels kitchen space.

Voters that wish to return ballots and registration documents should go to the new office location.

The building had been vacant since 2014 and was renovated with an open floor plan to offer more flexible space use for elections staff.

The new space will include security upgrades.

This project allows the county to reuse an existing county-owned building while making the elections office more accessible and convenient for voters and election day volunteers.

“Poll workers and voters now have easy access to the office to prepare for Election Day,” County Commissioner Chair Jeff Haste said.

There is a free parking lot for visitors, a feature not previously available at the downtown location.

The new office houses a new, state-of-the-art mail-sorting machine designed to expedite ballot sorting while preserving process integrity.

“Voter security and ballot integrity are vital, and we want our residents and voters to feel comfortable that those pieces are in place,” Commissioner George P. Hartwick III said.
