The Dauphin County Commissioners hosted a presentation Wednesday on “Joy to the Burg,” a collaboration of local musicians supporting homelessness programs.

The musicians performed variations of 19 holiday songs for a compilation album being sold, via donation, at Karns Quality Foods stores and at www.JoyToTheBurg.com.

A live music event is scheduled for Dec. 12 at The Englewood in Hershey.

Proceeds will benefit homelessness programs for Christian Churches United and HELP Ministries.

Joe Trojcak and Sheldon Jones, leaders of the project, and Steven Schwartz of CCU attended the commissioners’ meeting to discuss the effort.

“Thank you for the incredible, life-changing work you do,” Dauphin County Commissioner Chair Mike Pries told Schwartz.

Commissioner Chad Saylor credited the creators for developing a project that raises funds for “the people who need it most.”

“Local musicians tackling the issue of homelessness is just awesome,” Saylor said.

Some of the contributing artists include Grant Bryan, Leap of Faith, Shea Quinn, Susquehanna Corale, and Loco Lobo.

“Thank you for having the sprit and the heart to put this together,” Commissioner George P. Hartwick, III said.
