Northern Dauphin Human Services Center and Valley Strong initiative to host career fair on April 20

ELIZABETHVILLE, PA (April 5, 2018) – As part of the northern Dauphin “Valley Strong” initiative, Dauphin County Commissioners Jeff Haste, Mike Pries and George P. Hartwick, III and the Northern Dauphin Human Services Center will hold a career fair from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, April 20 at The Valley Lighthouse, formerly Kevin’s Place, 105 Main St. in Lykens. Area employers with entry-level and management positions available will participate in the free job fair.

“Bring your resume, come dressed for success and be ready to meet face to face with employers and recruiters,” said Hartwick, who has oversight of the county’s human services departments. “Whether you’re interested in the healthcare field or the food service industry, you’ll find great opportunities here.

Formed in 2014 by the Northern Dauphin Children’s Mental Health Provider Network in partnership with the county and other organizations, Valley Strong promotes healthy, safe and resilient children and families in northern Dauphin County in a variety of ways, including, but not limited to, back-to-school donation drives for students in need, mentoring, canned food collections for the hungry, town hall meetings and drug and alcohol prevention.

“When we work together, we can accomplish so much more – and that’s what Valley Strong is all about,” said Haste. “Addressing unemployment and poverty is part of it,” said Haste.

Participating companies will have entry-level and management positions available.

“Thanks to the many employers and community partners for coming together to take part in this event,” said Pries. “Our hope is to connect local employers with qualified workers in our community.”

Anyone who RSVPs for the career fair, participates as an employer, registers as a volunteer, signs up for the Valley Strong yard sign program, or takes part in the poverty simulation will be eligible for free tickets to Lake Tobias Wildlife Park in Halifax. Tickets are limited and distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Contact Bonnie Kent at 717-905-2700 by April 13 to get involved.
